The temperatures are falling, along with the leaves. Landscapes are changing from shades of green to orange and red. The “-ber” months are upon us, with all the cozy feelings to match. And as pool parties make way to holiday parties, it’s time to switch up your soundtrack so your tunes match the vibe.
Here you’ll find a sampling of playlists to help you get through the rest of the year.
September
Forget no white after Labor Day—no summer tunes after Labor Day should be the real rule! Sorry surf rock, you’re out. It’s time for the cozy vibes of walks on leaf-strewn paths and fireplaces starting up. These playlists are like sweater weather in sonic form.
October

Spooky season. Enough said. We have something for everyone, whether you prefer the coziness of Practical Magic or reveling in the jump scares of a classic slasher flick. And it’s not just music—we have all the creaks, shrieks, and bumps in the night that you expect from the scariest month of the year.
November
Yes, football kicked off in September, but November is when it really feels like it goes into high gear, peaking on Thanksgiving Day. And speaking of Thanksgiving, the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade closes out the autumn season and ushers in Christmas with a holiday spectacular starring beloved characters, Tom Turkey, and the arrival of Santa Claus. And what is the start of the holiday season without Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales.
December

December is jammed-packed with holidays. There are (at minimum) 11 holidays celebrated worldwide throughout December. From Christmas to Hanukkah, to Kwanzaa, and New Year’s Eve, there is a celebration every week.
And while most holiday songs focus on winter, to our friends in the Southern Hemisphere, it’s summer, so we’ll let them have their surf rock back.
